One of the fun things I do when I'm at the beach in North Laguna Beach is to watch these big birds enjoying their favorite gathering place, the "Pelican Rock". The first time that I got within 2 feet of a pelican, I was in awe of its size and look. To me, it looked so unreal and almost cartoonish. I knew right away that I would be painting pelicans!

As an artist, I am interested in painting and capturing images of all the beauty that surrounds us. We live in an incredibly beautiful world, and I try not to take that for granted. I paint with watercolors (my favorite medium), acrylics, alcohol inks, color pencils, sometimes mixing different mediums for certain effects. I also try capturing interesting views or angles with my camera. Depending on the subject, I may modify a photograph digitally to create a totally different and interesting image.
